Beechboro Christian School Breaks Ground for New School

The dream of a permanent home for Beechboro Christian School (BCS) took another significant step forward over the Easter break, with representatives and contractors meeting to dig the first sods of dirt from the block on Crystal Turn that will become the new school site for school in the coming years.

City of Swan Mayor Mr David Lucas was on hand to assist BCS Principal Mr Michael Bolan, along with Board Chair Mr Robert Edkins, Chief Executive Officer Dr Graeme Cross, Chief Education Officer Dr Thelma Perso and BCS Business Manager Mr Jean-Andre Spangenberg.

Dr Martin Bent, along with architects from Parry & Rosenthal and builders BE Construction, also marked the festive occasion.

Dr Bent has been a longtime supporter of the school’s relocation pursuits as a previous operational staff member and as a Board member at more than twenty years ago.

The site is currently being cleared for construction of a new Early Learning Centre set to commence in the coming days, with the target of completion in December 2022. The Early Learning Centre will comprise of three Kindergarten classrooms, two Pre-Primary classrooms and an abundance of outdoor space for the students to enjoy.

“We are extremely excited to reach this phase of the project and see action on the site,” said Mr Bolan.
“We are looking forward to moving to our new school, and I am particularly excited for our Kindergarten and Pre-Primary classes of 2023, who will be the first to experience our new facilities”, he said.

The remainder of the school buildings will be transitioned to the new school site in 2023, and all students and their families will continue to enjoy a strong sense of community as the school writes its next chapter.

The new property is only a stone’s throw from the current rented site on Marshall Road in Bennett Springs, however, the new site is larger and offers room for enrolment growth and gives the school a permanent home after years of searching.
