Oh – What a beautiful…..production! MCC’s drama students put on spectacular Oklahoma shows over two nights

Music and Drama students performed on Thursday 30 November and Friday 1 December 2023, with students from Year 7 to 12 students singing some of the memorable musical numbers composed in 1906 by the duo of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

Songs such as “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'”, The Surrey with the Fringe on Top” and, of course, “People Will Say We’re in Love” were commonplace sing-a-long numbers with Mundaring grandparents in their formative years. The reprisal of such a country classic is sure to see some of the senior students whistling these tunes around the McDowell Loop campus in Parkerville between now and the end of Term 4.
Throughout the 2023 school year, dedicated students rehearsed 4-5 hours per week, many of whom had never ventured into performance, singing, or acting.
The lead performers—Jai Kril, Layla Ryall, Della Peacock, Mia Steyger, and Noah Paxman—delivered remarkable performances, as did all the other cast members and secondary leads.

The venue was full on both evenings, with the promise of future performances in years to come a certainty for the MCC Performing Arts staff.
